Written by George Hazelwood Locket and Alfred Frank Millidge, British arachnologists who shared the H. H. Bloomer award in 1974. This work was their magnum opus.
Printed by the Ray Society, a publication society who print works regarding British flora and fauna. Named for naturalist John Ray, it is based at the Natural History Museum, London. This volume is No. 133 of the series.
From the library of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie, an English socialite and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. She was featured by Cecil Beaton in The Book of Beauty. Amongst her circle were Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dali, Winston and Clementine Churchill and Nancy Mitford.
Illustrated with diagrams throughout the text.
First editions, each complete with an unclipped dust wrapper.
CONDITION
In the publishers original full cloth binding with unclipped dust wrappers. Externally generally smart; first two volumes have tidemarks to the edge of the front board. Dust wrappers are sunned to the earlier volumes, with just a little general wear to the edges and a few marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
